The programme is aimed at companies operating in the global market, with their head office or permanent establishment in Portugal, who wish to attract highly qualified and/or specialized technical staff to Portugal from third countries and residents outside the European Union, who will contribute to the development of the Portuguese business fabric." In order to use Tech Visa, companies have to sign up for the program with Iapmei, the Portuguese government institute responsible for managing it.

What type of entities are accepted into the certification process?

Commercial companies and technological interface centers recognized under the terms of Order no. 8563/2019, of September 27, or collaborative laboratories recognized under the terms of Regulation no. 486-A/2017, of September 12, with headquarters or permanent establishment in national territory, who wish to hire highly qualified and/or specialized third-country nationals for the development of their activity, are admitted.
